(Quick Overview)
Start building your pyramid
This free 45-minute lesson guides children ages 8 to 14 through a hands-on pyramid-building activity that supports STEM, cultural awareness, and self-expression.
1. Build (20-30 minutes)
Create your own pyramid using any materials including mud, paper, cardboard, recyclables, LEGO®, sugar-cubes, or anything you have available.
No internet, budget, or special supplies. Just your imagination.
Your pyramid should:
• Rise in layers (3–9 levels)
• Be wider at the base, smaller at the top
• Include steps on at least one side
• Place something meaningful at the top: a flag, flower, or even a feather like Sofia
2. Record (5-10 minutes)
Every child records or writes their story that starts off like Sofias: (or a version of this)
“Hi, I’m ________.
I built my pyramid using ________.
I put ________ on top because ________.
Now I feel like I can fly.”
3. Share (3-5 minutes)
When you share your story, you join a global movement of young pyramid builders across 100 countries.
Sofia built hers with clay.
